South Korea’s Yoon abandons attempt at martial law

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol backtracked on his hours-long decision to impose martial law on Tuesday after opposition lawmakers defied armed forces to unanimously vote against the motion, which had drawn thousands to protest in the streets.
