Russia’s Lavrov heads to Malta in first EU trip since start of Ukraine war
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is on Thursday expected to attend an OSCE summit in Malta, in his first trip to the European Union since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Although Moscov’s top diplomat has been slapped with EU sanctions, including an asset freeze, he is not subject to a travel ban. He last visited the EU in 2021 when he attended an OSCE summit in Stockholm.
