Monterroso: The Spanish village welcoming migrants with open arms
With the Canary Islands struggling to cope with the number of migrants arriving on their shores, the Spanish state is asking other parts of Spain to accept them. In the summer, several hundred migrants were sent to Galicia, north of Spain. With anti-immigrant discourse on the rise, the residents of the village of Monterroso stand out because they are receiving foreigners with open arms and as a welcome addition to the community.
