France expels 12 Algerian officials amid diplomatic escalation
Tensions between France and Algeria have escalated following the expulsion of 12 diplomats by each side. France recalled its ambassador on Tuesday after Algeria expelled 12 French officials in retaliation for the arrest of an Algerian official. The growing strain is also linked to the jailing of an influencer in Algeria and President Macron’s defence of Morocco over the Western Sahara dispute.
