US election: A red shift across the United States

What is particurarly remarkable about Trump’s win is the breadth of it. It cut across categories of age, race, ethnicity, gender…picking up votes among groups that have historically been core to Democrat victories – including women, Latinos and young people. He even made inroads in the state of New York.
