Chad presidency ‘calm’ after ‘destabilisation attempt’, govt spokesperson says

The situation at Chad’s presidency was completely under control on Wednesday evening, a government spokesperson said, after bursts of gunfire were heard near the presidential compound. Armed men were reported to have attacked the interior of the compound while tanks were spotted on the streets of the capital and all roads leading to the presidency were blocked.
