France’s Barnier to resign as no-confidence vote sparks new political crisis

French Prime Minister Michel Barnier is due to hand in his resignation on Thursday, just three months into the job, after losing a no-confidence vote in parliament. It is the first time in more than 60 years that a French government has been toppled in this manner, plunging the country into a deep political crisis.
