Global aid rushes to Myanmar following devastating earthquake

Following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that hit Myanmar and Thailand, aid has been pledged by countries like China, India, South Korea, and the UK, but it remains insufficient. Even before the disaster, 15 million Burmese were suffering from famine due to ongoing civil war. While Myanmar’s shadow National Unity Government declared a partial ceasefire on Saturday, the military junta has continued airstrikes on resistance groups. baumAid efforts are further hampered by severe damage to hospitals and roads, with the UN warning that shortages of medical supplies like blood bags and anesthetics are hindering rescue operations.
