Macron faces Mayotte locals, pledges to ‘rebuild’ cyclone-ravaged island

Days after Cyclone Chido caused “exceptional” damage to the French overseas territory of Mayotte, French President Emmanuel Macron met with distressed, exasperated residents during a visit to the island on Thursday, pledging to ‘rebuild’ its schools, homes, and hospital, and curb illegal immigration.
