Macron, Merz, Starmer and Tusk meet Zelensky in Kyiv in bid to pressure Russia into ceasefire
France’s Emmanuel Macron, Britain’s Keir Starmer, Poland’s Donald Tusk and Germany’s new leader Friedrich Merz are meeting Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Saturday in a bid to pressure Russia to commit to a “full and unconditional” 30-day ceasefire. It is the first time four European leaders jointly visit Ukraine, and comes a day after Russia celebrated Victory Day during which President Vladimir Putin hailed Russian forces fighting in Ukraine.
