Mark Carney’s Liberal Party wins Canadian election

FRANCE 24 Correspondent Christopher Guly reports from Ottawa shortly after former banker Mark Carney and his Liberal Party won the Canadian election, fending off Pierre Poilièvre’s Conservatives, who just a few months ago seemed poised to come into power following former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s resignation. Carney, who replaced Trudeau in March, galvanised Canadian pride and resistance with his tough anti-Trump stance, promising to stand firm against the US President’s trade war and categorically dismissing Trump’s dream to make Canada the 51st US state.
