Taiwan says China carrying out massive military exercises

Dozens of Chinese warships and other vessels have been deployed along the so-called first island chain linking Taiwan with Okinawa and the Philippines, senior Taiwanese officials have said, in what appear to be one of Beijing’s largest-ever military exercises. The show of force is believed to be in response to Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te’s visits to the US last week.
