The glaciers on Mount Kenya’s peaks are melting away

Mount Kenya rises to an altitude of 5,000 metres, making it the second-highest peak in Africa. However, for several years now, the glaciers it harbours have been disappearing. According to experts, the effects of climate change caused the largest glacier, the Lewis Glacier, to lose nearly 90% of its volume between 1934 and 2010. This glacial melt has significant consequences for the region’s wildlife, flora, and human inhabitants.
