Trump administration formalizes plans to shutter USAID
The Trump administration has announced further cuts to the US agency for foreign aid, sounding the death knell for an organization that has fought hunger and poverty around the world for more than 60 years. The announcement has prompted alarm among humanitarian aid experts, some of whom fear a renewed AIDS epidemic. Despite the cuts, Trump has vowed that the U.S. will provide assistance to Myanmar following a deadly earthquake. Charlotte Hughes has this story.
