UK’s Starmer announces rise in defence spending ahead of visit to bridge Trump-Europe divide

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Tuesday that the UK will raise its defence spending from 2.3 percent to 2.5 percent of GDP by 2027. The announcement comes days before a visit to Washington to meet with US President Donald Trump, who has long demanded European nations spend more on defence.
