‘Virtually certain’ that 2024 will be hottest year on record, EU monitor says

After months of increasingly frequent and devastating climate events, 2024 is set to register as the hottest year ever recorded, with global temperatures expected to rise 1.5C above pre-industrial levels, EU climate monitor Copernicus said Thursday.
